Today, I’d like to share the progress and experiences of Lydia the missionary during her mission trip to Korea:
At 10 PM on November 18, 2024, the plane safely landed in Seoul. To my surprise and great warmth, the pastor and sisters in Korea came to the airport to welcome me. Even a deacon drove with his sleeping child to pick me up. From the very beginning, I experienced the enthusiasm and acceptance of the brothers and sisters.
During the two weeks I lived in this land that felt both familiar and foreign, I witnessed how the love of Christ dissolves boundaries and language barriers. At the same time, I experienced profound differences that left me deeply moved:
1. Passion and Dedication to God
On the first night, a sister stayed with me and didn’t return home. She merely laid a blanket on the floor to rest. By 6 AM, she quietly left to go to work.
The next day, we had a dinner fellowship. Many brothers and sisters traveled about two hours after work to join us. One brother even finished his late-night shift, which usually ended at midnight, early to attend. They brought their children and thoughtfully prepared fruits and food for the pastor. Afterward, they stayed to clean and pack up before heading home.
What touched me most was a sister who brought her haircutting tools. She noticed the pastor’s busy schedule likely left no time for a haircut, so she made a special trip home after work to fetch her tools and help him.
Their actions were not accompanied by grandiose words or complaints of exhaustion. Instead, joy radiated from their faces. This passionate and wholehearted dedication to God made me reconsider what it means to serve in a way that pleases Him.
2. The Fire of the Holy Spirit Burning in the Church 🔥
On my first Sunday in Seoul, I visited Yoido Full Gospel Church, a sanctuary that can accommodate 25,000 people. The church hosts four Sunday services. When I arrived at the parking lot, I was amazed by the constant flow of cars and people at 9 AM. Inside, the sanctuary was already packed with people praying and worshiping, and more continued to enter.
This was not a celebrity concert or a shopping event—it was a regular Sunday service! Some workers arrived as early as 4 AM to pray and prepare for their service roles.
The brothers and sisters’ devotion to worship transcended fatigue and laziness. The fire of the Holy Spirit 🔥 burns brightly here. May His kingdom and glory rise in all nations the same way!
3. The Dreams of the Younger Generation
On December 1, my second Sunday in Korea, I attended a Chinese service and a youth dinner at Five Wheels Church, a congregation committed to nurturing the younger generation. Many attendees, including families, traveled 1-2 hours by public transport to worship.
During dinner, I met several young brothers and sisters. Despite their busy jobs, they were learning Chinese so they could one day share the gospel in Chinese. One brother shared in halting Chinese, “My dream is to tell Chinese people about Jesus.” Another sister, who prays daily for opportunities to meet people open to the gospel, hopes to become an elementary school teacher, teaching Chinese and sharing the good news.
Their perseverance and passion deeply moved me. These young people have given their lives wholly to the Lord, tirelessly striving to glorify His name.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for showing me the pure hearts and unwavering dedication of Your children! May You greatly remember their labor and sacrifices, and may You raise up more workers who live for You. Let the fire of Your Holy Spirit 🔥 continue to burn, bringing Your kingdom to earth and fulfilling Your will as it is in heaven. Amen!
